There is no denying that there is something MUY sexy about the Spanish language and culture, so this date night is sure to be hot, hot, HOT! INVITE:

Start by inviting your, soon to be, latin lover with this beautiful invite by Leah Aldous. Write in the FECHA (date), HORA (time), and the LUGAR (place) and leave it for your spouse to find. Anticipation is everything! SPANISH PHRASES:

There is a reason that the Spanish language is considered a “Romance Language”. Hearing the sweet sounds of Spanish makes me weak in the knees. The rest of America must agree with me since they DID choose a Spanish bachelor on this year’s season of The Bachelor. All the ladies are swooning. For Spanish date night, there needs to be some of this romance language being used. To help you out – I have put together my Top 10 Romantic Phrases in Spanish along with a pronunciation guide for you know how to say it. Throughout the night you can can tell your spouse, “I love you”, “I want you”, “I desire you” and of course “Kiss me!” plus much more! If you already speak Spanish like my spouse and I do – go the whole night speaking in Spanish. You can use the romantic phrases provided or add some of your own. FOOD:

One of the BEST parts about the culture is the food! I love Mexican food and since I don’t cook – we tried a new Mexican restaurant. We did try to find one that was true, authentic Mexican food and not that Americanized stuff! Since it is Spanish Date Night you could also venture out and try Peruvian food, Argentine cuisine etc. There are LOTS of restaurants to try. You could even create a Big Bites Passport and carry this over several date nights! If you ARE a whiz in the kitchen (and I am so jealous about that) you could make some traditional foods such as tamales, empanadas, mole (pronounced mole-ay), flan, fried ice cream, and -of course- salsa & guacamole. All of those recipes plus MORE can be found HERE. My best recommendation would be to try making the creamy Shrimp enchilada’s from Angie’s Zorro Date Night – delicioso! SETTING THE MOOD:

There are so many Latin beats to set the mood for your evening. I prefer to use Pandora to keep the right style of music going all night long without any repeats. Here are a few station suggestions to get you started:

If you are looking for a fiesta-like feeling for your evening with addictive beats try salsa and merengue! Just type in “Salsa Station” For a sexy flamenco style feel try my absolute favorite guitarists with the “Rodrigo and Gabriella Station” If you are feeling suave – slow it down with some bachata. I prefer the “Bachata 2013 Station”

Now, if you want to set the scene at home try colorful papel picado for decorations. It is pretty cheap but will instantly add color and culture to your space.  DANCING:

Any excuse to get close to your latin lover is an opportunity NOT to be missed! Dancing is a HUGE part of the Spanish culture. Men and women or all ages have a passion for dance, particularly partner dancing. Salsa, merengue, cumbia, bachata – these are all partner dances that can turn up the heat on the dance floor. For this date night find the nearest Salsa club near you! These places often have lessons before the dance officially begins to get even the most novice dancers moving to the beat. If you aren’t ready to hit the town – learn some moves at home! My hubby and I found this fantastic website that teaches hot salsa moves with video demonstrations! They have everything from the very basic all the way to complicated twists and turns. Maybe on this date you could spend time learning the moves and then next time – hit the club! MOVIE:

After food and dancing, we put in a movie that was just perfect to end the night. Dance With Me is about a Cuban Man who comes to America and finds work at a dance studio. He introduces the strict ballroom dancers to his culture’s free-style of dancing. It is the perfect movie to tie in the culture AND the dancing! Another romantic Spanish movie option would be The Mask of Zorro. We have a whole date night planned for that one!
